lyrics
you’re off on some new tangent now that you’ve disturbed the peace
you make pulling away an act of generosity
don’t act as though you have any idea what’s best for me
i hope you haven’t got some sort of sorry saved for me
still, i’m the sort that finds it hard to tell when you’re relieved
no less than second best or it’s a damned atrocity
oh no, oh no, why’d i ever sink so low?
my place to take up space is as the butt of every joke
take care when you inhale, the words you taste lodged in your throat
so sweet, you idiot, you’ve no idea you’re about to choke
oh no, oh no, why’d i ever sink so low?
oh no, oh no, how was i supposed to know?
oh no, oh no, hating you’s just how i cope?
oh no, oh no, why’d i ever sink so low?
“Awake Again,” the title track, is the most upbeat and poppy sounding on the album, which contrasts the other more mellow and toned-down tracks like “It’s Because I Cut My Hair” and “Spilt Milk” so perfectly. This is a track you could actually dance to. I mean, I can’t, but theoretically, someone with more ability and only one left foot absolutely could. N.J. Racket
